Relatively jam-packed weekend, especially for a pair of homebodies like Mr. Boyfriend and I. We spent Friday night in Salem, playing a show at a cafe with our band.

I’m still attempting to whip my fancy new DLSR camera into submission, so the photos aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but you get the idea.

Saturday (after a healthy dose of working at my horrific office job), Mr. Boyfriend and I headed down to his parents’ house to attend his adorable nephew’s first birthday party.

Apparently, children’s birthday parties are more than Mr. Boyfriend can handle.

Yesterday, I spent twelve hours at my horrific office job, which may have been apparent due to my lack of biting wit and/or hilarious commentary. Hopefully no one was counting on me for comedic relief during some sort of crisis situation. No sartorial documentation for this weekend. Just imagine me wearing unbelievably glamorous outfits for three days straight.

After a much needed week of recovery from academia-induced fatigue, I am ready to rejoin the ranks of productive citizens. My first foray into summer-level productivity came in the form of some good old-fashioned sewing.

This is a little ditty I whipped up today; sort of the bastard child of a belt and a corset. The outer (“fashion fabric,” for all you corsetiers) is made from a set of Vera napkins I’ve been hoarding for years. The lining is the legs from a pair of jean cutoff shorts, and the bias binding came from a GIGANTIC box of sewing notions my mom scored at a tag sale years ago. I also happened to have one more separating zipper in my sewing mess drawer, so this project cost me ZERO BIG ONES. SCORE.

Admittedly, I wasn’t dressed this glamorously at my sewing machine. However, my usual sewing attire (various degrees of nudity, generally) probably isn’t fit for public consumption. Also, please to be enjoying the view of my shower. Again.

Random confirmation of vanity: It’s been really rainy/humid lately, and I LOVE how curly it makes my hair. SAY YES TO JEW-FRO.

Here’s what I look like when I’m procrastinating:I don’t look any different than usual, you say? Well, let me let you in on a little secret: that’s because I’m ALWAYS procrastinating. I have a take-home final due at 5pm tomorrow. Have I started it? Of course not; I was too busy painting my nails white and taking sassy self-portraits.

Today was my last critique of the semester; I have one more exam due on Thursday, and then it’s HOME FREE, BABAY. I had enrolled my workoholic self in a summer course, but when the weight of the fact that it starts NEXT WEDNESDAY finally hit me like a ton of essays in June, I dropped that sucker and enrolled for the fall, instead. I think my frazzled mind will thank me when I’m sippin’ the courvoisier in my sexy eighties-babe bikini, instead of lugging my 543894385903 pound art history book around for half the summer. Although all that book-slinging would have been good for toning my sexy eighties-babe arms. In any case, when I get all my portfolios back, I’ll totally put up some of my work, so I can wax poetic about what an artiste I am, and the internet can laugh at my pretentiousness.

I’m up to my eyeballs in finals (check that slant rhyme, SNAP!), so all blog-tivity will be brief and/or sparse until after Thursday.

It was actually relatively chilly today. I’d call it a “two-dress-one-sweater” kind of day. I’d like to point out here that we New Englanders are notoriously adept at weather-related complaining. We can log a complaint in pretty much any meteorological situation, and the climate up here is so variable that we we’ve got endless fodder for our equally endless whining. That being said, I do love dressing in cuddly layers, so all is actually well in Cora-land.

I’ve got a portfolio due tomorrow with five pieces that I have to finish and mount, so until I have some breathing room, it’s over and out.

So, I’m not going to lie here. This is not the first time I’ve started a new blog with the loftiest of intentions. However, my refrain is the same as that of a self-loathing woman with a string of abusive boyfriends, or a college-jumping 24-year-old: this time is going to be different.

Of course, promises are for suckers, so without further ado, let me introduce you to some MIND-BOGGLING CONTENT. First of all, allow me to share the inspiration that led me to start another of these wild bloggy journeys:

This necklace is the SWEET LOOT I won in the PequitoBun giveaway over at The Coveted, both of which you should totally check out. Is this necklace not the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? It (as are all of PequitoBun’s pieces) is made from repurposed vintage jewelry. I also won a $50 credit to use in their online shop, and I’l be damned if all their stuff isn’t cheek-pinchingly adorable, so I’m going to have a hard time narrowing down my choices.

Anyway, I figured if I’m going to be making off with jewels I won in blog-hosted giveaways, I should at least start my own blog. You know, to give away my sparking personality in return. I suppose this is going to be a sort of hybrid fashion/craft blog, as I find myself stupidly obsessed with both, and of course, who wouldn’t want to read endlessly about my obsessions?

This is the upper 85% of what I wore today.

Admittedly, I can’t get enough of street style blogs, a la The Sartorialist, Copenhagen Street Style, et cetera. In that vein, I’ll probably do periodic outfit shots, which will also satisfy my overpowering need to photograph/look at pictures of myself. Just kidding. Sort of.
